About Align AMAR Yoga Studio

Align Amar Yoga Studio is a labor of love. It was founded by women from incredibly different backgrounds who shared a common vision: to create a yoga studio with alignment-based classes taught by knowledgeable, highly-skilled teachers in a space of community and acceptance. Marga and Barbara met at Dancing Foot Yoga, where they practiced and taught yoga for many years. When that beloved studio closed in August 2014, they felt their community of students and teachers was too special to let go. So, Marga and Barbara joined forces to create Align Amar Yoga. Their intention from the start has been to offer sound, healthy and intelligent yoga under the guidance of expert teachers so that students can reap the benefits of their practice both on and off the mat. When body, breath and mind are in alignment, true yoga – union – graces your life.

Founders

Barbara Sager

Barbara's love of yoga, particularly the benefits of therapeutic yoga, began in 1984. She took her first class through her workplace, and over the course of her 40-year career in the computer / telecommunications industry, she continued to practice. While still working her program management job, Barbara started teaching yoga to people with limited mobility. After retiring from corporate life in 2006, she launched her second career, teaching more therapeutic classes and continuing her studies. She is co-founder of Surya Chandra Yoga Sanga, a non-profit dedicated to bringing therapeutic yoga to underserved populations. She is also a registered ERYT-500* teacher as well as a Certified Yoga Therapist with 1500+ hours of training. Her business skills are now finding a new application here as a co-founder of Align Amar Yoga. In her life off the mat, Barbara enjoys classical music, traveling the world, and spending time with her family.

Marga Cava

Marga approached her part in making Align Amar Yoga a reality with the same clear, positive focus and willingness to work hard that she has applied to the other important aspects of her life. A native New Yorker, Marga studied Romance languages and earned her Ph.D at Columbia University. Her appreciation of yoga began much earlier, when as a teen she used the healing effects of yoga to address a ballet injury. Her study and her teaching of both the yoga postures as well as the philosophies continue to enrich her life and also the lives of her two daugthers, Alexandra and Rosalia, as well as Alexandra's husband, Raul. Marga lives in Tinton Falls with her soulmate and husband of 29 years, Andrés. She teaches Spanish at High Technology High School. When she's not on the mat, Marga loves cooking and traveling with family and friends.

"Yoga gives me such a sense of joy and well-being that I want to share it with everyone."
